John Keble

John KebleJohn Keble: (April 25, 1792 - March 29, 1866). Founder of the Oxford Movement. Keble College, Oxford is named after him.

John Keble was the eldest son of John and Sarah (Maule). He had one other bother: Thomas and two sisters; Anne and Elizabeth. John Keble earned a scholarship to Corpus Christi College where he gained double first-class honors in Classics and Mathematics. He was then elected to a fellowship at Oriel College, Oxford where he won both the Latin and English essay prizes.

Keble maried Charlotte Clarke (1835-1866) who died six weeks after her husband and is buried next to him in Hursley.
